The Lady Highlanders lost their first game of the Nike Invitational Classic, but bounced back, won seven straight and are returning home tournament Champions after defeating CY Fair 21-25, 25-9, 26-24, 25-23 Saturday at Cy Woods High school.

Cy Fair put up a tough fight and gave The Woodlands all it could handle, but the grittiness and “never say die” attitude of TWHS head coach Terri Wade and her team prevailed.

“This is the best welcome I can have into this season here [at The Woodlands,]” Wade said. “I feel like we had great coopetition throughout the tournament and we were able to get better every day. I feel like if the competition was up and down it would have been harder for us to get better.”
