On Monday, Aug. 25, about 8:35 p.m., Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 19300 block of East Lakeshore Drive in Magnolia in reference to a reported disturbance in progress.
When units arrived at the location, they discovered that an altercation had occurred in the roadway.
It was reported two pedestrians, a father and son, were walking down the road when they confronted a male driving a motor vehicle, due to the speed the vehicle was traveling at. The vehicle stopped and the driver got into a verbal confrontation, which turned into a physical confrontation, with the two pedestrians.
At some point during this confrontation, the driver of the vehicle proceeded to get a tire iron-type tool from his vehicle and then struck the two pedestrians with the tire iron tool. All three subjects were at the location when patrol units arrived at the scene.
The two pedestrians were transported to a local hospital, where one of the males, Aaron McMahon, a 31-year-old male, was pronounced deceased.
Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crime Detectives, Crime Scene Investigators, and representatives of the Montgomery County District Attorney’s office arrived at the scene.
After an investigation, the driver of the vehicle, Anthony Dwayne Rideau (date of birth 02/17/1974), was arrested and charged with the murder of Aaron McMahon and the aggravated assault of Michael McMahon.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
