Time was ticking for the Oak Ridge War Eagles Friday night at Deer Park.

Facing a 10-point deficit with a little over eight minutes to play and having not led at any point during the game against the Deer, it was looking like the War Eagles might enter District 16-6A play with a .500 record.

But a long burst to the end zone by running back Paul Williams, a sure-handed touchdown catch and run by junior Kyle Townsend and the War Eagle defense not breaking under pressure in a hostile environment brings Oak Ridge into next Saturday’s district opener at Woodforest Stadium feeling good after pulling victory from the jaws of defeat.
