Football: High school football: The Woodlands’ Talford is Highlanders’ multi-purpose back

The Woodlands Highlanders have an unusual offense. Highly functional, mind you, but a little on the iconoclastic side.

There’s never a tight end on the field. The Highlanders use multiple receivers on both sides of the line of scrimmage, on nearly every play. And there’s only one back behind the quarterback, whether it’s junior starter Eric Schmid or seasoned backup Craig Heiser.

That means Jordan Talford, the Highlanders’ 5-foot-10, 170-pound junior, has to share playing time with two others, Carlos Ramos and Lexton Trauffler. When he’s on the field, though, Talford has his ways of making an impact. click here for complete story
