Atascocita has one of the top boys cross country teams in the state, checking in 18th in MileSplit’s rankings. The problem is four of the teams ahead of Atascocita are in its district.

The Woodlands is the No. 1 team in Texas, College Park is No. 3, Kingwood is ranked 15th and Oak Ridge is 16th.

“We’ve got five teams in the top 20 in our district, so it’s going to be a tough district,” coach Todd Symons said.

“We could run our best ever. We could have the best club we’ve ever had – which this is the best club we’ve ever had – and still be fifth.”
