
Football season is in the thick of a chase for the playoffs and volleyball’s regular season has almost wrapped up with only two UIL dates remaining, but Team Tennis got some attention this week.

The team tennis playoffs also started Friday Oct. 16 with the Bi-District Area Round of competition:
Bi-District Area Playoffs Quarterfinals
The Woodlands, College Park and Oak Ridge were joined by Kingwood in the area team tennis playoffs, with the District 16-6A representatives facing schools from 15-6A. The matches were set for the Woodlands area beginning at 3:30pm Friday with district champion The Woodlands hosting Klein Collins. The Woodlands defeated Klein Collins 18-1. College Park hosted Klein Oak on College Park’s courts. College Park defeated Klein Oak 10-0. Oak Ridge traveled to the hosting 15-6A champion Klein and was eliminated from the playoffs.
Bi-District Area Playoffs Semifinals
On Tuesday Oct. 20 The Woodlands easily defeated Kingwood 18-1 and advance to the Bi Area playoffs finals. On Wednesday Oct. 21, College Park traveled to district 15-6A champion Klein and won convincingly 10-4
Bi-District Area Championship
Since the top two teams in the Bi-District Area playoffs advance to the Regional Tournament, The Highlanders & Cavaliers will play the area finals on Friday with only regional tournament seeding on the line.
Conference 6A – Region II Tournament
Play will be held Thursday Oct. 29 – Friday Oct. 30 in Mansfield Texas with the winner advancing to the UIL state tournament at Texas A&M’s Mitchell Tennis Center on Nov. 11-12. It will be an expanded state meet this year with Class 4A joining 5A and 6A in separate competitions. In past seasons, 4A has played team tennis in the spring and as a nonsanctioned event.
