A night at the drive-in picture show

In a world of IMAX and surround sound, 3-D blockbusters and $8 popcorn, the Showboat Drive-In is a rural time warp. The theater – just 7 years old – is a throwback to the mid-20th century, when more than 400 drive-in movie theaters were scattered across Texas. Now the whole country has fewer than 400, with only about 17 in Texas. The Showboat is the only place to catch a drive-in movie in the Houston area.
