The second district match between College Park and Oak Ridge was much like the first, only with a lot more rain. The weather held up for 60 minutes of play, but a lightning delay in final 20 led both teams the call the game with College Park well in front.
The Lady Cavaliers’ offensive tenacity wore down the Oak Ridge defensive front early enough to pull off a 3-0 shutout at Woodforest Bank Stadium Tuesday night.
“We knew that the weather wasn’t going to be great,” College Park coach Meredith Cook said. “So we had to prepare for the possibility of not being able to finish a game and were really focused on coming out strong in the first. Oak Ridge played us so tight in the first half, I was excited to get a goal in before halftime.”
Junior Isa Sanabria paced the Lady Cavaliers’ offense with two goals, both coming on follow-up attempts. click here for complete story
