The Woodlands (40-0) tangles with Kingwood (26-5) at 6:30 p.m. tonight at Porter High School. The winner will advance to the Region II-5A tournament starting Friday at Sam Houston State in Huntsville.
“I think our kids definitely have a focus, a healthy approach to each match,” The Woodlands coach Leslie Madison said. “It is good that they have a sense of confidence, but they’re not at the point where they’re overconfident.”
The Woodlands remained unbeaten in 40 matches last week, defeating Pflugerville Hendrickson 25-18, 25-18, 25-17 in area-round play in Brenham. Courtney Quinn had 13 kills for the Lady Highlanders in that match, and Madison McDaniel finished with 12. It was the first time in school history that The Woodlands hit the 40-win plateau.
