The Woodlands coach Mark Schmid and some of his staff members got a chance to scout Round Rock last week for its bi-district game against Austin Akins.

At times, the Dragons looked familiar. Maybe even too familiar.

“They look like us in a lot of ways,” Schmid said. “They have good size on both sides of the ball. They run the football. Their quarterback is a big part of their running game. They run out of a spread formation, and on defense they play a 3-4 base, just like us.”

The Woodlands (9-2), the District 14-5A champion, faces Round Rock (7-4) in the area round of the Region II-5A Division I playoffs on Saturday in Waco. Kickoff at Waco ISD Stadium is set for 2 p.m. click here for complete story
