Archery National Field champion Jack Overbeck hopes to take his skills into college and beyond.

A sophomore at The Woodlands College Park High School, young student and aspiring athlete Jack Overbeck first became interested in sports in 2009 while still in middle school. Now a proud member of The Woodlands Archery Club, Overbeck has become heavily involved in archery organizations and competitions around the area.

His auspicious career in the demanding sport kicked off with a bang in 2011, when Overbeck became a Texas State recurve champion in the Junior Olympic Archery Development Cub division. In addition to being spurred on by his family members to achieve greatness at the sport, Overbeck also braved the Houston heat to take part in the “Archery on Fire” Woodlands archery camp this past summer.

That training has come in handy, as Overbeck recently took home a first place win at the 2013 U.S. Archery National Field championship. While he still has a long road ahead of him as a high school student and an archer, Overbeck already has learned many skills in his time training for these competitions, and he offers simple but useful advice to budding archers. click here for complete story
