Rice head football coach David Bailiff was named Conference USA Coach of the Year last week after leading the Owls to their first outright league title since 1957.

Local players Brian Nordstrom (defensive end, The Woodlands High School), Ryan Trauffler (running back, The Woodlands High School) and Zach Wright (wide receiver, College Park) were a part of this year’s team.

The victory over Marshall was the 10th of the season for Rice, which tied a school record for most in a single season. The Owls also won 10 games back in 1949, led by legendary coach Jess Neely, and again in 2008 under Bailiff. click here for complete story
