A select group of high school-aged boys and girls in the Montgomery County area who have been identified as having high leadership potential will attend a banquet from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Jan. 24 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel.
This inaugural event will be emceed by former state Rep. and Navy pilot Rob Eissler. This year’s speaker will be former NASA Astronaut and Engineer, Dr. Bonnie J. Dunbar, now with the faculty of the University of Houston STEM Center, College of Engineering.
Dunbar’s space flight experience is extensive, having logged more than 50 days in space and participated in a 13-day Spacelab flight and on the first docking flight between the Russian Space Station MIR and the Space Shuttle. Additionally, Dunbar is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, among her extensive awards and memberships.
The event is geared toward encouraging youths to reach for the stars as they graduate high school and go on to college and come to decisions affecting their interests and life careers. click here for complete story
