Soccer roundup: Conroe boys top Westfield 3-2, improve to 4-0

The Conroe boys soccer program continued its hot start to the season with a 3-2 victory over Westfield on Tuesday night at Buddy Moorhead Memorial Stadium.  The Tigers are 4-0 under coach Jack Richburg, who is starting his second stint with the team in his 30th year at Conroe High School.

Conroe will trek to Georgetown this weekend for the Governor’s Cup. Its matches are against El Paso Burges at 4 p.m. Thursday, Anderson at 11 a.m. Friday and New Braunfels Canyon at 11 a.m. Saturday.

The Woodlands 2, Chavez 0: The Highlanders improved to 3-0 with a road victory on Tuesday night. Junior Bubacarr Jobe scored both goals, his sixth and seventh of the season. Tony Arana and Primo Covarrubias recorded the assists.

Magnolia West 3, Caney Creek 1: The Mustangs improved to 6-0 overall with a home win on Tuesday night. Bryan Zavala and Adrian Medina scored in the first half and Edwin Gonzalez converted a penalty kick in the final minute. Nathen Wiley and Miguel Miranda notched an assist apiece.

Magnolia 2, Spring 1: Senior Luis Gordillo scored both goals as the Bulldogs improved to 2-1-1 with a home win on Tuesday night. Junior goalkeeper Kaleb Turner made six “fantastic” saves, Magnolia coach John Cox said. click here for complete story and photo gallery
