The Woodlands’ Ryan Sorensen and College Park’s Jonathan Tybur know what it feels like to stand on the state podium with medals around their necks. The local duo did it last year, taking gold and silver, respectively, in the boys 100-yard breaststroke. Now, they’re back for more hardware. Both swimmers had standout showings on Friday in the prelims of the Class 5A UIL Swimming and Diving State Championships at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center at the University of Texas. Sorensen, a junior, finished first in the prelims with a time of 56.22, topping his mark of 56.31 from last year’s finals. He’ll be looking for back-to-back state championships in the event. click here for complete story and photo gallery
