The Woodlands and Conroe were two ships passing in the night on Friday night, one program rolling toward another state playoffs berth and the other still trying to set a foundation. The Highlanders rolled to a 19-2 victory at Farrell Park at Elmore Field, remaining unbeaten in seven District 14-5A games. Conroe, meanwhile, has five games left in first-year coach Jeff Raymer’s inaugural season.
“We’ve had a couple injuries and kids who got sick, who couldn’t play,” Raymer said. “You’re playing a powerful squad and you’re already behind the eight-ball. We’ve just got to be mentally tougher.”
The Woodlands coach Ron Eastman admitted his team didn’t mind the breather. The Highlanders are 21-3 overall. click here for complete story
