The sixth-ranked Rockwall Lady Jackets gave top-ranked The Woodlands all it could handle last weekend at Baylor’s Getterman Stadium, but in the end, the Lady Highlanders swept the Class 5A Region II championship series in Waco.

Rockwall could have – and probably should have – given undefeated (25-0) The Woodlands its first loss of the season in the second game of the series Friday night. Twice the Lady Jackets loaded the bases with no outs, first in the second inning and again in the fifth. In the second frame, the Lady Highlanders managed two force outs at home and pitcher Abby Langkamp speared a hard ground shot by Hayley Baker to get the out at first base and strand three Rockwall runners.
