The Lady Highlanders set the state tournament single-game records for most stolen bases by a team (9) and by a single player (Sidney Salmans, 4).

“That’s what we’ve done all year,” The Woodlands coach Richard Jorgensen said. “We set a state record this year for stolen bases. We broke our own record from 2011. … Just hats off to our girls. They came out on all cylinders today.”

The Woodlands (39-3) will face off against Deer Park (38-6) at 4 p.m. today at this same venue in the championship game. The two programs have combined to win two of the last three state titles, with the Lady Highlanders taking home the hardware in 2011 and the Lady Deer claiming the trophy in 2012. click here for complete story and photo gallery
