Baseball: Oak Ridge’s Baker reflects on home run derby victory

Oak Ridge’s Luken Baker put on quite a show Monday night and had the local Twitterverse bursting at the seams because of it.

Baker, a TCU commit and senior-to-be for the War Eagles, crushed seven home runs at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota, claiming the 2014 Major League Baseball Junior Select Home Run Derby title in the process.

He did so on the biggest stage: in front of thousands of fans and, more importantly, a large group of MLB All-Stars.

“I was really nervous going out there, not just because of all the big leaguers down the line, but having 55,000 people sitting in a major league stadium waiting for you to hit, it’s pretty nerve-racking.” Baker said.

Baker and Canadian Josh Naylor, who hit four homers, took their hacks during the commercial breaks of the Gillette Home Run Derby and shared the field with some of the greatest players in the world. click HERE for complete story
