With the community still in shock over the sudden death of Atascocita High School Softball Coach Jim Grotenhuis last month, the Humble ISD Board of Trustees honored the late coach’s memory at its August meeting. The board approved renaming the Atascocita High School Softball Field to Jim “Jimbo” Grotenhuis Park in honor of the coach and all that he has done for the community. Grotenhuis died in July from a sudden heart attack. Even though Grotenhuis only worked at Atascocita High School for two years, he was widely known in the Houston-area for his work as a softball coach and his role in mentoring young women. click here for complete story
