
Friday night lights is back and College Park (0-1) seemed up to the task of taking on the 2013 state-runner up Pearland Oilers (1-0) in their home opener at Woodforest Bank Stadium. College Park won the toss and decided offense was the way to go, and preceded to go on an impressive 12 play, 56 yard drive that saw new starting quarterback, Robert Ferguson, make some impressive plays with his feet. However, the offense stalled near the red-zone, giving Pearland possession and momentum.
“The biggest thing for us going in is they are faster than anybody we’ve played so far,” said College Park head coach, Richard Carson. “That’s why we are playing them. So we can get used to it before we play the teams in our district.”
The star of the contest was Pearland running back, JaColbie Butler, who ran for 210 yards on 21 attempts, to go along with four touchdowns. For College Park, quarterback, Robert Ferguson, led the charge with 102 yards through the air, to go along with 31 yards rushing and a touchdown.
