The Conroe Tigers got back on the court for the Conroe Christmas Classic and found some tough sledding against defending Class 3A state champion Houston Yates.
The Lions bolted to a 20-point halftime lead and turned back the Tigers 74-62 at The Pit on Monday afternoon, sending the Tigers to the consolation bracket.
Yates 74, Conroe 62
Conroe coach John Oliverio wanted to test his squad against the deep, talented Lions, and Yates’ first-half press proved to be the Tigers’ undoing.
Conroe 53, Waller 39:
Delvin Palmer scored eight of the Tigers’ 17 first-quarter points, closing the first quarter with a nice finger roll to the basket, before Waller slowly got back into the game.
