Spring man takes 18 years for ‘date rape drug,’ meth charges

54af1d48cf40a.imageA 33-year-old Spring man was sentenced to 18 years in prison after pleading guilty Thursday to first-degree felony drug charges.

Chris Hartwell was arrested Sept. 12 after Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies and the SWAT team issued a search warrant at the 300 block of Holly Creek Court in The Woodlands, where Hartwell shared a home with then-Oak Ridge High School chemistry teacher Haivan Bui.

Police found Hartwell inside the home with nearly 2 ounces of methamphetamine and numerous bottles of Gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB), a compound commonly used in “date rape drugs” and body-building. click here for complete story
