Basketball: Reed powers College Park past Conroe

College Park opened the game in a zone defense and stayed there.

The Conroe Tigers looked for gaps near the basket and put up plenty of 3-point shots, but neither were very effective. Brett Reed, the Cavaliers’ 6-foot-8 senior center, scored a game-high 18 points to lead his squad past Conroe 51-37 on Friday night.

“That might have been the best we’ve played this season, except for at the free-throw line,” Reed said. “McKinley Green stepped up big time.”

Green got the Cavaliers (14-13, 3-3 in District 16-6A) off to a fast start, hitting two early 3-pointers, and the Tigers (14-12, 1-5) struggled to answer. click here for complete story
