The addition of Kingwood, Atascocita and Summer Creek made District 16-6A a newfound challenge for the Conroe ISD schools in most sports.
But it’s created a monster in swimming, as longtime powers such as The Woodlands and College Park experienced Saturday at the Conroe ISD Natatorium.
The Woodlands captured the boys team championship, followed by Kingwood, Atascocita and College Park.
Kingwood’s girls took the team championship, followed by College Park and The Woodlands. But College Park coach Rachel Banes is looking forward to getting another shot at Kingwood in the Region II-6A championships to be held at the Conroe ISD Natatorium on Feb. 6 and 7.
“We’re definitely looking forward to getting another chance to compete against Kingwood and the other schools,” Banes said. “The regional meet will be a glimpse of the state meet.”
College Park’s Dorothy Halmy turned in an outstanding performance, winning the 200-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle. She also helped the Lady Cavaliers qualify in the 400 freestyle relay and the girls medley relay.
The Woodlands was led by Cole Pollina, who swept the 50 freestyle and the 100 freestyle and was a member of the Highlanders’ winning team in the 200 freestyle relay. click here for complete story
