Boys Basketball: College Park’s comeback falls short, Cavs eliminated from playoff contention

The effort was there, the team was motivated, but it wasn’t to be.

In College Park’s last effort to make the postseason, the defending district champion couldn’t finish a remarkable comeback, falling to Kingwood in overtime, 65-62 Friday.

The Cavaliers rallied from a 12-point deficit at 44-32 with less than six minutes to play in regulation on the back of junior guard McKinley Green.

“We dug ourselves a hole, but there was no quit in our guys,” said College Park coach Clifton McNeely. “They kept playing, kept competing, and got after it.”

Green scored 13 of his game-high 29 in the fourth quarter, including a three-pointer with three seconds to play to send the game to overtime at 52-52. click here for complete story
