A measure being considered in the Legislature would allow home schooled students to participate in UIL sanctioned sports on the team of the school they would attend if they were enrolled in public schools, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
State Rep. Jason Villalba, who is a co-author of the proposed bill, calls it the ‘Tim Tebow Law’ after a similar measure passed in Florida in the 1990s which allowed the future Heisman Trophy winner to participate in high school sports despite the fact that he and his siblings were all home schooled by their devout Christian parents.
