Baseball: College Park takes two over Cy-Fair schools in Ferrell Classic

The box scores and opponents may have been vastly different, but the end result was the same for College Park (5-1), which won both games it played Friday at the Ferrell Classic.54fa7e8f4325f.image

In the opening game of the day, the Cavaliers squared off against Cy Woods, using a five-run second inning to take control over the Wildcats in a 12-2 victory in five innings. Game number two was much closer in terms of scoring, as the Cy Creek Cougars put up a fight, but ultimately fell 4-3.

“Cy Creek is a very good ballclub, and when you can take two games against Cy-Fair ISD schools… that’s a good day at the ball yard,” said College Park coach Jason Washburn. “To have one in blowout fashion, where we couldn’t do much wrong on offense, and another where we had to fight, that’s a good test for us.”

The first game had a rough start for the Cavaliers, as Cy-Woods’ Brandon Rayne hit a 2-RBI single off College Park starter Tyler Mortenson to open the scoring at 2-0 in the second inning. click here for complete story & photo gallery
