The Woodlands golf team advanced to the state tournament after a third place finish in the Region II-6A tournament Tuesday afternoon at Cottonwood Creek Golf Club in Waco.

Each of the top three teams made the cut to compete with the other three regions at the state meet, meaning Austin Westlake and Dallas Jesuit will join The Woodlands in Austin on April 27.

The Woodlands ‘A’ finished with a score of 24-over 600, just one shot behind second place Jesuit, and 13 off the pace of overall winner Westlake’s 587. After day one, The Woodlands was tied with Dallas’ Highland Park with a 296 total for second behind Westlake, but a tough second day allowed Jesuit to leap frog the two before the Highlanders claimed the final spot. click here for complete story
