Students and young adults with special needs were able to become stars of the court during the 8th annual Challenger Camp Rebound hosted by The Woodlands High Highlander basketball team.
Pat Primavera, president of the Rebounders Club, boosters for Highlander basketball, said the event is a success with the community and with the basketball team because each benefit from this “win-win.”
“It’s the young men who are the basketball players at the high school who volunteer their time,” Primavera said. “They get a lot more out of this than maybe us grownups, and maybe they’ll get a sense that, when times are tough, they’ve really got it good compared to some of these kids that they’re working with. They can learn a lot from these kids.”
The event hosted a range of ages, from four to 22 years old, including Michael Mitchell, 9. Michael’s mother, Markisha Mitchell, said her son enjoyed the event and will be reminding her of such for days to come. click here for complete story
