The Woodlands pitcher Chris Andritsos celebrates after retiring three straight Klein batters in the second inning of a bi-district playoff game last Thursday. The Highlanders will play Austin Bowie in the area round starting Thursday at The John Cooper School.

In the opening round of the Region-II playoffs, The Woodlands used a combination of dominant pitching and the fortune of a coin toss to get by Klein, the District 15-6A champion, in one game.

Fate may have intervened a bit in the area round against Austin Bowie in a best-of-3 series this weekend.

The Highlanders will face the second-seeded team from District 14-6A, Bowie, which finished the regular season with a 12-4 record against district opponents.

Bowie defeated its bi-district opponent, Pflugerville Hendrickson, in three games. The Bulldogs lost Game One 3-1 before winning the final two, 4-0 and 10-2 respectively. click here for complete story
