The spot was made for Kourtney Coveney.

Katy’s senior pitcher stood in the batter’s box in the eighth inning Friday. Her Tigers were tied with The Woodlands and Katie Clark, representing the winning run, stood on second base.

“I like (being in that spot), because then I can show my team that I really do have their back,” said Coveney, who won Game 1 of Katy’s region final against Brazoswood with an eighth-inning homer.
