Softball: The Woodlands falls in extras to Katy in Class 6A state semifinals, 3-2

In a game of 6A titans, it’s almost a shame one team had to lose, and in the state semifinal game between Katy and The Woodlands, it was the Lady Highlanders who felt the sting of defeat.

With two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning, Katy starting pitcher Kourtney Coveney hit an RBI single off of relief pitcher Emily Langkamp, ending The Woodlands season in Austin on Friday, 3-2.

“We had our chances, that’s for sure,” The Woodlands coach Richard Jorgensen said. “It was a good game, and that’s what you expect.”

Prior to Coveney’s walk-off single, The Woodlands starter Abby Langkamp pitched a superb game in her last start at the high school level, going 7 2/3, while surrendering just three hits and one walk with five Lady Tiger strikeouts. click here for complete story
