Congressman Kevin Brady Host Breakfast Honoring Military Academy Appointees

DSC07769Each year, members of Congress submit nominations of students from their districts for admissions to one of the four service academies – the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., theU.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., and the Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y.

There were 9 students from the 9th Congressional District who have been offered appointments to the four U.S. Service Academies.

At the U.S. Military Academy Aaron Cheng – College Park HS, Nicola Newton – Conroe HS and Cory Sanders – The Woodlands HS.

Daniel Carroll – Magnolia West HS earned a spot in the Naval Academy.

Luke Easton – Oak Ridge HS, Tyler Mortenson – College Park HS, Collin Page – Klein Collins HS, Maxwell Page – Montgomery HS and Tyler Rapp – The Woodlands HS earned a spot at the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Students entering the service academies will receive formal military training, a bachelor’s degree and an officer’s commission in one of the four branches of the military.

The students from the 9th District were honored and celebrated for their achievements and what is to come for them at the June 13 breakfast.

Congressman Brady took pride in the incoming cadets and mid-shipmen of his district as they embark on a path where they will be tested day in and day out as they learn to be the next generation of military leaders our country needs.

“With the nominating Board , this is one of the most inspiring things I do each year – Identify the future leaders in our country” 

” America is blessed that so many outstanding young leaders from our District want to serve their nation,” concluded Brady. 

The students receiving appointments will enter the academies in late June to begin Basic Training.
