Until Monday, Cole Hammer was known mainly as a promising golfer who committed to the University Texas at age 13 and possessed a cool name.
This week, the sophomore-to-be at The Kinkaid School is the talk of the golf world. His game obviously is ahead of schedule, but how many 15-year-olds even follow a schedule?
Hammer put the hammer down in Monday’s 36-hole U.S. Open sectional qualifier at the Northwood Club in Dallas, becoming the third-youngest golfer to qualify for the Grand Slam tournament. He was one of six golfers in Dallas to qualify for the U.S. Open, which will be played June 18-21 at Chambers Bay in University Place, Wash. click here for complete story
