Rodeo: Low first-go score doesn’t concern defending champion at Cheyenne Frontier Days

Richmond Champion didn’t record a score in the 80s.

But the defending Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo bareback champion isn’t concerned. In fact, he is in a similar spot to last year after the first go-round.

Champion, of The Woodlands, Texas, scored an 80 in his first go-round here last year. He went on to an 86 in the second go and had a 91 in the finals to win his first CFD title.

Champion scored 79 points on a horse named Blues Man in Saturday’s first go at Frontier Park Arena. Saturday marked the first day of the first-go, and there were only two rides in the 80s. Champion said he felt good about his opening round score. click here for complete story
