Track & Field: The Woodlands HS junior Piperi sixth in IAAF discus

55a6f45d8b248.imageTripp Piperi’s experience in the IAAF World Youth Track & Field Championships is over, and The Woodlands High School shot put and discus standout will return to his native soil as the 17-and-under world champion in the shot put.

Saturday’s finals in the discus, however, were not what Piperi was looking for, as the 16-year-old Highlander finished sixth in the discus compeition on Saturday in Cali, Columbia.

Piperi, 16, was the UIL Class 6A state champion in both the shot put and discus in the spring. He’d dominated a handful of meets in the United States over the summer, and woin the IAAF World Youth Championships title in the shot put on Thursday, getting off a winning effort of 22 meters even, which converts to 72 feet, 2.25 inches. click here for complete story
