Basketball: The Woodlands tops Elkins, wins own tourney

Clay Creighton made it a memorable finish in his last Benchmark Bank Thanksgiving Classic played at the The Woodlands High School.The senior guard totaled a game-high 28 points, including four 3-pointers, as the Highlanders claimed the Gold bracket championship on a 61-57 win over Fort Bend Elkins Saturday night.

“It’s huge,” Creighton said. “It was a great tournament with a lot of good teams in it. We just played our hardest, worked together and got the win. It was fun.”

Earlier in the afternoon, The Highlanders (9-2) secured a 83-72 win over North Forest in the semifinals in order to play for the title. click here for complete story
