The 9-11 Lady Highlanders basketball team faced the Atascocita Lady Eagles (11-8) in the first round of district play on Tuesday, January 5th at The Woodlands High School gymnasium.

After winning the opening tip off, the Lady Eagles took the ball down the court. Nadia Trevino, an Atascocita senior, scored on the first possession to put the Lady Eagles up 2-0. The Woodlands junior guard, Julia Glandt, came back with a layup to tie the game at 2-2. The rest of the Lady Highlanders’ points in the first quarter came from free throws. They were 4 of 8 from the free throw line in the first quarter. Atascocita’s other 4 points came from senior, Raven Cato and sophomore, Ronje Williams as the quarter ended with the score tied at 2-2. click here for complete story
