The three-day UIL state football championships in Houston two months ago drew 156,413 fans – a 37 percent drop from 2014 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

What’s wrong with admitting AT&T Stadium might care about high school football more than NRG Stadium and the Alamodome?

This week’s news that SMG – the managing company for NRG Stadium – charged the University Interscholastic League $495,000 to use the facility for three days for its state football championships in December isn’t the reason the event likely won’t return to Houston any time soon.
