Several local athletes put up strong performances at the Region II-6A Track and Field Championships at Baylor University in Waco over the past two days, punching their tickets to the state meet in Austin.

The Woodlands girls and boys won the regional team titles, both by close margins. The Lady Highlanders scored a total of 93 points, beating out Mesquite Horn (88.5) Harker Heights (46) and Oak Ridge (32) and Rockwall (28.5) rounded out the top five.
