Performing Arts | River Oaks Chamber Orchestra Brass Quintet presents “Music From the Americas” on April 7 and 9

Brass-Quintet-e1476670354232On Friday, April 7 at Midtown Arts & Theater Center (MATCH), and Sunday, April 9 at The Woodlands United Methodist Church, the River Oaks Chamber Orchestra (ROCO) Brass Quintet presents “Music From the Americas.”

In their final concert of the 2016-17 season, the ROCO Brass Quintet will perform recent works of composers from North and South America. The program includes a fanfare by Jennifer Higdon; David Sampson’s Chesapeake, which depicts a series of sailing trips off the coast of Maryland; Osvaldo Lacerda’s Quinteto Concertante, a charming four-movement work for brass that incorporates Brazilian folk music; and John B Hedges’ Weep & Wail, a short, bluesy work for brass quintet.

An optional “Night Out” ticket package — which includes a ticket to the performance and a prix fixe dinner at Brennan’s of Houston — is also available for this event (more information is available here).
