Football: Atascocita focuses on rebuilding roster

622x350 (4)Atascocita went from five wins in coach Craig Stump’s first season to 10 wins last year, along with a trip to the regional quarterfinals, and spring practice played a key role in the team’s development. It’s even more important this year. The Eagles are young, with only four starters back on offense and five on defense, so there’s a lot of work to do to prepare for the fall.

“It’s very important,” Stump said. Spring practice is important for a lot of reasons. One, you’re always replacing positions, and I don’t want to go into August not knowing who those people are going to be. You find out the answers in a good way, that, yes, he’s going to be able to fill that spot, and sometimes you find out in a bad way, where guys you thought were going to be able to do something maybe aren’t there yet.”

Atascocita opened spring practice April 28. It finishes up May 23 with the spring game at the high school. click here for complete story
