Boys Basketball: Dallas ISD probe might net Yates state basketball title

On the court, Yates has lost in three consecutive boys basketball state title games. There’s a chance the Lions could wind up with at least one of those championships.

The Dallas Independent School District submitted a report to the University Interscholastic League – the state’s governing body for public schools – on Friday to self-report findings from an investigation into recruiting at its schools. The report stated two varsity boys basketball players – Dallas Madison’s Johnathan Turner and Wilmer-Hutchins’ Troy Causey – were ineligible to play for those schools during the 2013-14 season.

Turner and Causey lived together in a southeast Dallas home outside their schools’ attendance zones. Turner has been charged with killing Causey on March 24 during a fight, and Causey’s death prompted an investigation on how the two ended up at their respective schools. Read more…
