Volleyball: Third consecutive trip to playoffs just first goal for Summer Creek

Summer Creek returned to the playoffs for the second year in a row last season. It didn’t match the 30 wins or second-place district finish from its 2012 breakthrough but still went 10-6 in District 19-4A.

“I thought we overachieved,” third-year coach Tamika Neumann said. We had some talent left on that team but we lost a lot of leadership and we lost two senior setters, so we had two (new) kids – one coming right out of middle school setting and a right side turned setter.”

Now the Bulldogs are the new kids on the Class 6A block. They’re making a move up in classification, from 4A to the new 6A (formerly 5A), and into a loaded 16-6A, with the likes of Kingwood and The Woodlands, which will present a new challenge.

Neumann said their goal is to embrace the role of underdog the first year. click HERE for complete story
