The Woodlands had its chances on Friday night against a fundamentally sound Kingwood team. But in the end, it was the Mustangs who prevailed with a 45-42 victory in a critical District 16-6A matchup.
The Highlanders (16-9, 3-3) trailed 43-37 with just 50 seconds to play, but Jack Hammett scored on a layup with 40 ticks on the clock to cut the deficit to four. The Mustangs converted two more free throws to make the score 45-39, but The Woodlands’ Cameron Burkett chopped into the lead once again with a 3-pointer with 12 seconds remaining. click here for complete story
