The Woodlands High School theatre troupe hopes that eight-letter word ensues at its production of the “25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” musical.
“Spelling Bee” is a one-act comedy written by Rachel Sheinkin with music from William Finn. The show is based around the namesake spelling bee and differs from other musicals in that it involves (voluntary) audience interaction.
“Most shows we have our basic theater seating with our stage and it’s more separated,” Rachel Meltzer, the sophomore stage manager, said “But (this stage) we’re really getting to interact with the audience. It will make the audience feel like they are a part of the show.”
The “25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” will take place Aug. 27-28 starting at 7 p.m., and Aug. 29 at 2 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. at The Woodlands High School Ninth Grade Campus.
