For wrestling programs looking for an early gauge and to grapple with some tough opponents, The Woodlands Invitational is the place to be the first weekend in December.
This year wasn’t any different. The Woodlands High School-Red team did something it hadn’t done in a handful of years as it came up with 180 points, 16 1/2 behind Katy and and third place to Allen High School-Blue, which dominated with 390 points.
“My team impressed,” The Woodlands coach Michael Harris said. “We haven’t placed in this tournament in seven years. To place third right behind Katy, they have a great team.”
The Highlanders had four total medalists, led by junior Alex Frometa, who pinned Kyle Kretzer of Clear Springs in the championship of the 152-pound class. click here for complete story
