The Woodlands’ Bre LeBlanc (27) sprints for home base to score the team’s second run during the high school softball game on Friday at The Woodlands High School.

The Woodlands had a lot go its way Thursday night on Day 1 of its home tournament, but Friday night’s doubleheader played out much differently. First, the Lady Highlanders dropped a close one to Liberty, 3-2, and then Brazoswood shut them out, 9-0.

“Like I said (Thursday night) we are a really young team,” The Woodlands coach Richard Jorgensen said. “So very inconsistent play. We were great last night, and today we weren’t. Against Brazoswood, a really good team, for most of the game we played much better, but the first game we just didn’t play well. We were going half speed and made some young mistakes and gave them the runs. Just things we have to learn from.”

The Woodlands’ (6-4) bats were silent in its 3-2 loss to Liberty (6-0) as the Lady Highlanders only managed four hits. Both of their runs came off an error. click here for complete story
