According to coach Mike Pirtle, Oak Ridge has been making good contact at the plate over the past two games. But the results of those at-bats just haven’t been there as the War Eagles have scored a combined three runs in games against Kingwood and Conroe.

That trend changed drastically on Saturday afternoon as Oak Ridge (9-6) used a big fifth inning to capture a 6-3 come-from-behind, non-district victory over Kingwood Park (9-7).
“The last couple of ballgames, we’ve really hit the ball well and made outs,” Pirtle said. “I told them, ‘One of these days, there’s going to be a couple of hits that will open everything up.’ Sure enough, we got a couple of hits, and everything just started to domino.
